Hallam Gugelmann, MD, MPH, FACEP, FACMT, is a US board-certified medical toxicology and emergency medicine physician. His clinical, forensic, and research expertise allows for in-depth investigation of a broad range of clinical and legal scenarios, including:

A seasoned clinician, researcher, and educator, Dr. Gugelmann serves as an expert in medicolegal cases involving toxic exposures, drug overdoses, adverse drug reactions, forensic toxicology, and emergency medicine litigation.
Dr. Gugelmann currently works as a biotechnology researcher and consultant in drug development and serves as a Lecturing Professor at the University of Basel Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. He previously held a faculty appointment at the UCSF School of Medicine. His research and publications address critical issues in opioid prescribing, forensic toxicology, synthetic drug exposures, and emergency medicine. His work has been featured in the Journal of the American Medical Association, Journal of Medical Toxicology, and Clinical Toxicology, among others.
A former attending physician in emergency medicine and toxicology, Dr. Gugelmann has worked in leading academic medical centers and poison control systems. He has also contributed to Goldfrank’s Toxicologic Emergencies, Critical Care Toxicology, and Poisoning & Drug Overdose, authoring chapters on methotrexate, bromides, and cocaine toxicity.
Dr. Gugelmann completed his Medical Toxicology Fellowship at the UCSF School of Medicine and his Emergency Medicine Residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He holds an MD and MPH from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. His expertise in forensic toxicology, clinical pharmacology, and drug development safety makes him a trusted resource for attorneys, investigators, and regulatory agencies handling complex medicolegal matters.
